John Crane Type 1

  • To absorb both breakout and running torque, the seal is designed with a drive band and drive notches that eliminate overstressing of bellows. Slippage is eliminated, protecting the shaft and sleeve from wear and scoring.
  • Automatic adjustment compensates for abnormal shaft-end play, run-out, primary ring wear and equipment tolerances. Uniform spring pressure compensates for axial and radial shaft movement.
  • Special balancing accommodates higher-pressure applications, greater operating speeds and lower wear.
  • Non-clogging, single-coil spring allows for greater dependability than multiple spring designs. Will not run foul due to fluid contact.
  • Low drive torque improves performance and reliability.

John Crane Type 2

  • Multi-purpose Non-pusher Elastomer Bellows SealThe Type 2 mechanical seal is available in single, double and balanced arrangements.
  • Fits equipment with confined space requirements and limited seal chamber depths in pumps, mixers, blenders, agitators, compressors and other rotary shaft equipment.
  • Automatic adjustment compensates for abnormal shaft-end play and run-out, primary ring wear and equipment tolerances. Axial and radial shaft movement is compensated for with uniform spring pressure.
  • Special balancing allows for higher pressure applications, greater operating speeds and lower wear.
  • Non-clogging, single-coil spring allows for greater dependability than multiple spring designs, and it will not run foul due to fluid contact.

John Crane Type 2100

  • Fully Unitized, Heavy-duty Elastomer Bellows Shaft Seal
    • Unitized construction allows for fast and easy installation and replacement. Design fits DIN24960, ISO 3069 and ANSI B73.1 M-1991 standards.
    • Innovative bellows design is pressure-supported and will not crease or fold under high pressure.
    • Non-clogging, single-coil spring keeps seal faces closed and properly tracking during all phases of operation.
    • Positive drive through interlocking tangs will not slip or break free during upset conditions.
    • Available in the widest array of material options, including high performance silicon carbides.

John Crane Type 502

  • The Type 502 mechanical seal is one of the best-performing elastomeric bellows seals available. It is suitable for general service and provides excellent performance in a wide range of hot water and mild chemical duties.
  • Full convolution elastomeric bellows seal designed to fit into confined spaces including DIN24960.
  • Unitized for ease of installation and tolerant of shaft play and run-out.
  • Bi-directional and robust drive to the seal face eliminates stresses on the bellows.
  • Available in metric sizes from 14mm to 100mm.

John Crane Type 515E

  • Asymmetric formed metal bellows designed for general purpose use. General sealing duties include biotechnology, chemical processing, food processing, mining, oil, oil refining, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical, wastewater treatment and water systems.
  • Compact design complies with European standards DIN 24960/L1N, ISO 3069 and BS.2557:1975. Inch sizes up to and including 2.625 in. Also complies with ANSI B73.1-1974.
  • Asymmetric bellows form results in even stress distribution with benefits of greater strength and higher rate of flexibilty; seal is bi-rotational and inherently pressure balanced.
  • Smooth profile is resistant to clogging and therefore ideal for slurries and fibrous liquids. Similarly, seal unit is easy to clean and sterilize in place.
  • Unit construction ensures a simple-to-fit seal, with superior heat dissipation paths. Seal unit is reliable and does not wear the shaft.

John Crane Type 680

  • Low-temperature, General Duty All-Alloy-20 Edge-welded Metal Bellows Seal
  • Static secondary seal available in single or dual arrangements, shaft-mounted or in a cartridge
  • Self-cleaning design — rotating bellows throw off suspended particles that clog spring-type seals. This self-cleaning action eliminates the need for external flushing, filters or cyclone separators and their associated costs.
  • World-class bellows manufacture — our bellows production facility has an outstanding manufacturing process with state-of-the-art stamping, welding and testing technology.
